Monica Event App: Enhancing Large-Scale Conferences



The Challenge
At large events, people often miss out on useful connections. The environment is busy, and networking is hard to manage. Planners face problems with organizing attendee movement, session timing, and keeping everyone informed.
The challenge was to build a platform that solved these problems in a smooth and simple way for both organizers and attendees, especially for fast-moving professional events.
Our Approach
We built Monica from scratch as a smart tool for events. We went through different accelerator programs and startup incubators and followed the lean approach.
We created and launched an MVP, tested it at several small to medium-sized events, and gathered real feedback from users and organizers.
The product included features like schedule browsing, contact exchange, and live updates.
The Outcome
Monica reached the finals of multiple startup competitions and gained early traction with event organizers. We launched the MVP and serviced small to medium events, and received a lot of feedback to enhance the experience.
However, whenever we tried to scale for larger events, although they admitted the need for better solutions, they were not ready or willing to switch to Monica. After several iterations, we could not find a strong product-market fit with the main audience we were targeting, especially millennials.
We discontinued the project. It served as a learning experience and foundation for future event tech ideas.
