DOCISS EMR: Secure and User-Friendly Medical Records

The Challenge
Doctors and small clinics across the MENA region needed a simple and secure way to manage patient records, treatment protocols, and financial operations.
Paper-based systems were inefficient, and existing digital tools were either too complex, too expensive, or unreliable in low-connectivity environments.
As clinics grew into polyclinics, coordinating across teams became harder.
The market lacked a lightweight, affordable EMR solution that could adapt to varying infrastructure conditions. Internet connectivity was weak, and most competitors were web-based and did not tackle this aspect.
Our Approach
We designed and built DOCISS as a Windows-based EMR platform tailored to local clinic needs. The system was modular, enabling configurations for solo practices as well as multi-doctor polyclinics.
We partnered with a Romanian development company that handled development while we managed the full product lifecycle, including product discovery, UX, deployment, and support.
The feature set focused on core clinic operations: patient records, electronic prescriptions, appointment management, medical protocol tracking, invoicing, and staff management. Data syncing was optimized for clinics with unstable internet, ensuring data integrity without requiring always-on connectivity.
We delivered iterative updates based on user feedback and evolving medical workflows.
The Outcome
DOCISS ran as a commercial SaaS product from 2011 to 2020, serving hundreds of doctors across the MENA region and Africa. It became an essential daily tool for healthcare providers, many of whom continue using it even after official support ended in 2020.
As internet infrastructure improved and user expectations shifted toward cloud-based systems, we phased out DOCISS and redirected our focus to solving other problems in different industries.
