ARZ Building Rating: Promoting Green Construction

The Challenge
Engineers and building owners face a lot of difficulties in figuring out how eco-friendly their structures are and how to make them more environmentally friendly. The Lebanese Green Building Council (LGBC) was ideating a web-based comprehensive assessment tool that will allow users to quantify the performance of their buildings and receive recommendations on how to enhance their corporate social responsibility.
The rating system includes over 250 criteria, used differently in each scenario and use case, making it challenging to turn into a usable digital product.
It had to serve a wide range of building types and project phases, from design to operation. The platform also needed to guide users through a five-part evaluation process and generate automated certification outputs.
Our Approach
Working closely with the LGBC team, we broke down the rating criteria into clear milestones, each containing limited product flows and user actions.
We drafted detailed requirements and technical documentation and built a roadmap in collaboration with Hellotree, the development agency hired by LGBC.
We managed platform development over the course of two years, managing the technical team, testing the requirements, and getting continuous feedback from LGBC stakeholders.
The Outcome
The platform launched successfully end of 2022 and is now used by engineers and architects across Lebanon.
Balamand University has adopted the Arz platform in its engineering program, helping students apply green building standards in real projects.
Usage continues to grow across the local building and academic community.
